Article in "Vistya":
People said "wow!" its stained glass windows
An exhibition of Kateryna Polyarush's creative works was opened in the premises of the city council.
The craftswoman told "Vistya" about her own handwriting, the price of creativity and about a "lamb in a bottle".
Fascination with stained glass
Kateryna is a polygrapher by profession, but she has not worked "for a diploma" for a single day. While still a student, she designed advertising products and illustrations for magazines and children's books. She tried painting from nature. Later, she immersed herself in glass painting. I got acquainted with the technique of stained glass by accident, seeing instructions for painting a glass jar in a magazine.
She remembers: she bought stained glass paints and contour. But the hopes did not come true: the paint spread on the vertical surface. Then she made sketches with colored pens and markers, later they became sketches for her stained glass paintings.
At that time, Kateryna enrolled in the "Fundamentals of Worldview" course at the Academy of Holistic Worldview. There were people who said "Wow!" its stained glass windows. That's how Katya started painting glass: from miniature drawings to voluminous ones.
Style
Her works depict the smiling Sun and Moon, flowers, birds, trees, and houses. It is immediately visible - the author's technique. "Having one's own handwriting is the highest aerobatics for an artist. Many people can copy but have no style. The teachers supported my stylization, although it may seem simplistic, childish," says Kateryna.
People said "wow!" its stained glass windows!
Durability of paint
"The purpose of stained glass paint is decoration. I draw on the dishes from the outside, then cover with a layer of varnish, so it can be used. How long such a thing will last, I cannot say. We have cups and plates at home, which we have been using for 10 years, and everything is fine with them."

The price of creativity
The criteria used by Kateryna when announcing the cost of the product are the price of materials and time: "If the customer asks to take into account the date of birth or symbols that specifically suit him, this includes my work as a psychologist, numerology, consideration of symbols. I believe that I underestimate the price of my works, because I visit exhibitions and see colleagues who work in the technique of stained glass painting, and their works cost two or three times more. If I spent two weeks on the product, it is difficult for me to take UAH 100 for this period of time. Although I often do so, because I want my creativity to be accessible to people.
Regarding paints: I use professional German and French paints. I want the thing I made to function as long as possible, so I use proven expensive materials. For classes at school, I buy glass or "collect" it from friends. For works to order, I buy a frame with glass."
Advertising
Kateryna admits: there are not many orders. She says that acquaintances who want to present an exclusive gift to friends and family are contacting her. The craftswoman was not concerned with advertising, although she was thinking about her own website.
Kateryna considers herself a public figure because she participates in artistic events: "If a person brings light and good in creativity, such creativity is needed. She will have clients and opportunities for development. At school, I pursue the idea of revealing the potential of children more than making them an artist. When 6-7-year-olds, withdrawn or aggressive, come to the group, I see how they change, become different. It inspires me."
Master classes
Kateryna conducts such classes if a group is recruited. She organizes meetings in the capital. Previously, Kateryna regularly held them at the Boryspil Museum. Now she wants to include them in the work schedule of the Union of Artists.
Art therapy
Kateryna is a certified art therapist, she graduated from the East Ukrainian Art Therapy Association in 2014.
Art therapy is an opportunity to find answers to questions that concern a person through art. This includes dance therapy, puppet therapy, music therapy, modeling... Each of these techniques interacts with a certain sphere of life. A doll is a vision of oneself as an individual. You can work with clay with psychological injuries, fears, and own boundaries. There are two parts to art therapy: the creative part, when a person does it himself, and the verbalization part, when we talk about it.
There is such a technique called "lamb in a bottle". A person hears the task: "Draw a lamb in a bottle." She has colored pencils and a sheet of paper. The drawing is a projection of the relationship with children or with parents, if this person does not have children. A ram is a child, a bottle is parental love. The details reflect the real state of a person's life: is the lamb unhappy, is he fine in the bottle, is it closed or, on the contrary, uncorked... Sometimes a woman says that her children are adults and independent, and she herself drew a lamb in a closed bottle, where everything is arranged for him : there is grass, the sun is shining. It turns out that she "holds" the child with care.
Poetry
Kateryna writes poems. People characterize them as unusual. She dreams of her own poetry collection.
